Agricultural output up in Azerbaijan

Actual value of agricultural output in Azerbaijan amounted to 4.61 billion manats in January-September 2016, which is 2.4 percent more compared to the same period of 2015.

Actual value of agricultural output in Azerbaijan amounted to 4.61 billion manats in January-September 2016, which is 2.4 percent more compared to the same period of 2015.
According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee’s report, the livestock production increased by 3.1 percent and crop production rose by 1.8 percent.

As of October 1, 2016, some 2.84 million tons of grain were collected from a territory of 959,600 hectares (99.8 percent of the total sown area) which is 2.2 percent more than in the same period of 2015.

Also, 174,500 tons of corn was harvested from a territory of 29,600 hectares.

Some 870,900 tons of potatoes were collected during the reporting period, which is 5.9 percent more than in the same period of 2015.

Aside from that, 1.15 million tons of vegetables (1.7 percent less than in the same period of 2015) and 461,400 tons of watermelons, melons and gourds (4.2 percent less than in the same period of 2015) were collected during the reporting period.

Due to an increase in tobacco cultivation area, the tobacco output increased by 9.8 percent and amounted to 3,100 tons.

At the same time, the average potato yield increased by 5.9 percent, vegetable yield decreased by 1.7 percent, yield of watermelons, melons and gourds decreased by 4.2 percent.

Moreover, 538,800 tons of fruits and berries (1 percent more than in the same period of 2015), 98,700 tons of grapes (11.6 percent more), and 891.9 tons of tea (60.3 percent more) were collected in the country.

Some 341,300 tons of meat, 1.51 million tons of milk, 1.21 billion eggs and 16,800 tons of wool were produced in the reporting period.

Meat production increased by 3 percent, production of milk rose by 2.5 percent, eggs by 4.9 percent, and wool by 1.5 percent as compared to January-September 2015.
