Georgia-EU relations are stronger than ever, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia wrote on his twitter account, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

He thanked the European Commission for additional support of 150 million euros to help Georgia limit the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

Gakharia expressed special thanks to President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell Fontelles, and the European Union Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.

On April 22, the European Commission has adopted a proposal for a COVID-19 support package for Georgia comprised of 150 million euros to help the country limit the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

The proposal comes on top of the Team Europe strategy, the EU's robust and targeted response to support partner countries' efforts in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, the EU Commission said that the funds will be made available for 12 months in the form of loans on highly favorable terms to help these countries cover their immediate, urgent financing needs.
