Kazakhstan in talks to establish strategy to attract investors in mining

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources is planning to develop a marketing strategy for attraction of major foreign investors into geological exploration, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev said, Trend reports with reference to the minister’s post on Twitter.

He noted that current total recoverable hydrocarbon resources of Kazakhstan are estimated at 76.4 billion tons of oil equivalent, while the potential of 15 sedimentary basins has yet to be explored.

“One of the strategic tasks for Kazakhstan’s geological exploration sector is attracting investment in the industry, the potential of which is significant for new discoveries,” Mirzagaliyev wrote.

He said that the ministry is currently in talks London-based IHS Markit company with customers around the world.

“Together with IHS Markit we are considering ways to develop a marketing strategy for attracting large foreign investors into the country's geological exploration, to organize a road show in order to attract an investor and present the country's investment potential,” the minister wrote.

In Mirzagaliyev’s words, investments attraction will allow holding complex geological exploration work with usage of modern technologies.

“This will give us not only a reliable picture of the deep geological structure of the entire basin territory, but will also allow us to more fully evaluate our own potential, approach the discovery of new deposits and new horizons, create jobs,” he wrote.
