Iran increases construction budget for next year

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec. 14

The country's construction budget has increased by 27 percent in the next Iranian year`s budget bill (starts on March 21, 2021), the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Management Information of the Planning and Budget Organization of Iran said.

“The total next Iranian year`s budget of the country is estimated as $580 billion, of which $24 billion will be the construction budget,” the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Management Information of the Planning and Budget Organization of Iran, Saeed Jaghataie said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The construction budget was about $19.5 billion in the current Iranian year (end on March 21, 2021), which has now reached $24 billion with a 27 percent growth," he added.

He went on to say that we will build more than 60 hospitals with a capacity of 10,000 beds from now until the end of the next Iranian year (end on March 21, 2022).

Referring to the transportation sector, he says that will open over 1,200 kilometers of railways, 1,200 kilometers of main roads, and over 3,500 kilometers of rural asphalt roads.

"In addition, about 450 km of the railway line will be operational by the end of the next Iranian year (end on March 21, 2022)," he said adding that the projects such as the Chabahar-Zahedan railway will be operational by the end of the next Iranian year.

He added that over 600 kilometers of the freeway will be opened by the end of next Iranian year(ends on March 21, 2020).

Regarding the housing sector projects, Jaghataie said that more than 80,000 housing units, mainly in villages and suburbs, will be built for the deprived people.

"In the water resources sector, about 15 dams with a reservoir volume of more than 1340 million cubic meters will be put into operation by the end of next Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2022) and 11 water supply projects such as the treatment plant transmission line will be put into operation in different cities during the same period," he said.
