Georgia reveals data on peach export volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3

Some 22,900 tons of peaches and nectarines were exported from Georgia in July 2021, which is 46 percent more than in July of last year, Trend reports via the Ministry of Agriculture.

In value terms, exports of peaches and nectarines increased by 53 percent to $20.6 million.

As in 2020, the largest volume of supplies of these fruits falls on Russia, where 14,700 tons of these products have already been exported, or 64.2 percent of total exports.

Some 592 tons were shipped to Ukraine, Azerbaijan - 269 tons, Belarus - 119 tons, Moldova - 116 tons, Kazakhstan - 95 tons, Slovenia - 59 tons of peaches and nectarines.

Harvesting of peaches and nectarines in Georgia and their export continues.

According to the ministry of agriculture, this year, 36 refrigeration farms are involved in harvesting these fruits across the country (23 last year). All procedures related to their export are carried out according to the "single window" principle.

According to the National Statistics Service, in 2020, 28,200 tons of peaches and nectarines were collected in Georgia, which is 26.5 percent more than in the previous year.
