External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $8.67 billion from January through August 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).
As reported, this is 22.2 percent higher year on year.
The value of export increased by 25.7 percent reaching $2.60 billion, while the import increased by 20.7 percent and amounted
to $6.07 billion.
The trade deficit equaled $3.46 billion and its share in trade turnover constituted 40 percent.
The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $7.48 billion in 7M2021, 21.7 percent higher than the same period of 2020.
In the reporting period, the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 77.9 percent. The top partners were China ($370.5 million), Russia ($322.7 million), and Azerbaijan ($295.3 million).
From January through July 2021 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 68.2 percent. The top partners were Turkey ($917.4 million), Russia ($545.3 million), and China ($459.4 million).
