Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The Baku visit of the director of Sustainable Development Sector of the Department on Infrastructure in Europe 10 September, according to the WB's Baku office.
The key fields of cooperation with Azerbaijani Government, to which the bank has been already involved, as well as the prospects of participation in new projects, will be discussed during the visit.
The discussions will cover issues on cooperation in energy, transport, water supply, sewerage system and agriculture within the framework of the program on purification of Absheron's oil polluted land.
The visit will end on 14 September. Thompson will meet with staff of different ministries and departments. His meeting with the Azerbaijani Prime Minister, Artur Rasizadeh, is also expected to take place.
According to WB's new partnership strategy on Azerbaijan, the bank is ready to allot credits in the total sum of up to $1.075bln within 2007 - 2010.
From the beginning of Azerbaijan's cooperation with the WB in 1992, $1.075bln was approved to be allotted for the implementation of 37 projects.
