The Trans Caspian gas pipeline project needs to be studied in details, Energy and Natural Resources Vice Minister Aset Magauov said.

"Implementation of the project has a juridical risk, because the status of the Caspian Sea still has not been determined. This has a vivid influence on the pipeline via the depths of the sea," Magauov said.

The Trans Caspian gas pipeline is necessary for gas export from the Central Asia through Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to European markets.

The preliminary construction cost of the Trans Caspian gas pipeline is estimated at 11.5 billion dollars. Its capacity could reach 22 billion cubic meters of gas a year. Specification of pipeline more profitable than the Blue Stream pipeline project (from Russia to Turkey under the Black Sea). This is due to the lower depths of the Caspian Sea and a more favorable environment compared to the Black Sea.
