Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Board of Directors of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Jiang Zemin within the working visit to China, Turkmen media reported on Friday.
The sides exchanged the views on prospects and opportunities to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the fuel-energy sector. It includes many major joint projects, as well as construction of the longest gas pipeline Turkmenistan-China in Eurasia.
"In this context, the importance of the framework agreement on cooperation recently signed between the public concern "Turkmengaz" and CNPC to supply additional volumes of natural gas from Turkmenistan to China was highlighted," Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary state news service said.
"The volume of Turkmen natural gas delivered to China every year will reach up to 65 billion cubic meters in accordance with this document," newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reported.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Corporation reported on the progress of ongoing work in Turkmenistan to extract raw materials and create the necessary industrial infrastructure in the gas-bearing areas of the right bank of the Amu Darya within the production sharing agreement (PSA) signed with the Turkmen side.
In particular, the matter rested in the construction of the second gas processing plant in the Contract Area "Bagtyyarlyk" designed to ensure additional volumes of exports.
Zemin said that all work on this project implementation is being conducted in strict accordance with the schedule. The facilities of the first phase of a gas processing plant will be commissioned in a timely manner.
The Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of the full development of the richest hydrocarbon resources concentrated in the Amu Darya basin, in the context of diversifying the national fuel and energy complex and delivering Turkmen energy resources to the world markets.
President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's adherence to all its commitments in the gas sector. He stressed that the country's huge energy potential is the reason of the successful implementation of a new agreement to supply natural gas to China.
