Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR produced 6.09 billion cubic meters of gas from the country’s offshore and onshore fields using its own funds in 2017, as compared to 6.27 billion cubic meters of gas produced in 2016, said a message posted on SOCAR’s website.
Along with its own production, SOCAR also gets gas from the Shah Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (associated gas) fields by developing these fields together with foreign partners.
The total volume of gas produced from those fields and independently developed ones was 28.6 billion cubic meters in 2017, as compared to 29.37 billion cubic meters in 2016.
SOCAR includes such production unions as Azneft (enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (the chemical enterprises) and Azerigas (distributor of gas produced in the country), as well as oil and gas processing plants, service companies and the facilities involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
