It is planned to provide free electricity to about 3 million people in Iran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Iran attended via videoconference by Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Trend reports citing Iranian President Office’s official website.
According to the president, the electricity will be provided free of charge as it is below the intended consumption limit. Thus, for the first time since the Islamic Revolution in Iran, low-income people will be provided with free electricity.
Rouhani added that at present, the electricity supply in Iran exceeds 99 percent.
"The number of villages supplied with gas has increased from 14,000 to 31,000 during current government (since August 2013)," he said.
