Azerenerji Announced Electric Power Import Volume from Russia

Marlen Asgarov, the Vice-President of Azerenerji JSC, said that Russia is currently supplying Azerbaijan with 1 mln. KWatt/hour of electric power per day. According to him, the electric power supplies capacity meets with that which was indicated in a contract signed between the two parties and makes 200-250 MWatt. In the mid of January, Azerbaijan and Russia reached an agreement on the tariffs on electric power. The import of electric power from Russia to Azerbaijan will be carried out in accordance with the tariffs applied in 2006 вЂ" 3,636 cents per 1 KWatt/hour, i.e. they have remained unchanged. The price of Azerbaijan electricity for Russia increased from 1,58 cent per 1 KWatt/hour to 1,8 cent. The contract signed is considered for the first quarter of 2007.

In the rush hours (the first five hours in the evening) when Azerbaijan experience a shortage (deficit) of electric power, the Russian party will supply Azerbaijan with electric energy at a capacity of 200-250 РњWatt.
