Foreign exchange reserves surge in Kazakhstan since 2019 year-end

The gross international reserves of Kazakhstan’s National Bank amounted to $32.4 billion in Nov. 2020, bank’s preliminary data said, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank.

According to the data, the value of the country’s international reserves decreased by 3.2 percent compared to last month and increased by 12.2 percent more than as of the end of 2019.

“International reserves overall, i.e. including the foreign currency denominated assets of the National Fund ($58.02 billion) equaled $90.5 billion as at the end of Nov. 2020,” the report said.

Net foreign exchange reserves of Kazakhstan also decreased by 3.2 percent in a month (increase by 12.3 percent compared to December 2019), and equaled $31.9 billion.

In turn, the assets in freely convertible currency have increased by 1.03 percent compared to Oct. 2020 and increased by 3.9 percent compared to Dec. 2019, which has amounted to $10.4 billion.

The country’s assets in gold amounted to $22.01 billion in Oct. 2020, which is 5.1 percent less than in Sept. 2020 and 16.6 percent more than as of the end of 2019.
