Iran observes 70% growth in load/unload operations at its Kangan port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Kangan port in Bushehr Province in the south of the country, increased by 70 percent, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, head of Kangan Port and Maritime Department Abdol Mohammad Naderi said, Trend reports.

The official said that approximately 35,700 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at Kangan port within 2 months.

Paying attention to the work done in the Kangan port, Naderi added that the construction of the breakwater in the Kangan port has been completed by 87 percent. This breakwater is expected to be put into use during government week in Iran (August 24 through August 31, 2023).

He emphasized that with the construction of the mentioned breakwater, the sea area of Kangan port will increase from 2 hectares to 5 hectares, and the mooring channels to the port will increase from 4.5 meters to 7 meters. Thus, ships with a capacity of 2,000 tons will be able to dock at Kangan port.

Iran’s Kangan port was put into operation in 2012. There are three berths in this port. The development of the port started in 2019.
