BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3. China initiated the construction of the second track of the railway between Jinghe and Alashankou, which later extends into the territory of Kazakhstan, Trend reports, citing Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
The statement was made during the meeting between KTZ, the national railway operator of Kazakhstan, and Urumqi Railways Company, a Chinese railway operator.
KTZ revealed that this will streamline the connection between China and Kazakhstan. The construction of the second track is expected to positively impact the transit capacity of the route.
Additionally, Urumqi Railways Company indicated its willingness to assist “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” with the construction of the third railway border crossing on the Bakhty- Tacheng route.
The sides also discussed the possibility of construction of a Kazakh terminal in Urumqi.
Currently, KTZ is active in fostering relations with China in a bid to improve the transport and logistics cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
Earlier, it was reported that China will provide the Kazakh national railway operator with eight hectares for the construction of a terminal located in the dry port of Xi'an city of China.
