Mitsubishi Corporation, which was selected as the general contractor of the construction, will build two steam and gas turbines with a capacity of 450 megawatts each at the thermal power plant.

Two steam and gas turbines are planned to be launched within the first phase of the project for the construction of the Turakurgan thermal power plant in 2017.

Two more turbines are planned to be commissioned in 2020 within the second phase of the project.

The project worth $1.1 billion is being financed at the expense of the loan of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the amount of $704 million, the loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan in the amount of $300 million and Uzbekenergo's own funds.
