TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 15. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has developed a new country partnership strategy for Uzbekistan for 2024–2028, Trend reports.
According to the ADB, the strategy aims to lend a helping hand to Uzbekistan in nurturing the next crop of reforms for a sustainable transformation to a green and inclusive economy.
The new partnership strategy focuses on facilitating the transition to a green economy, supporting private sector and competitiveness development, and promoting investments in human capital.
Earlier, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Khurram Teshabaev and ADB Director General for Central and West Asia Eugene Zhukov signed a memorandum on the implementation of the program for 2025–2027 during the 57th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors.
The document states that the program will cost an arm and a leg, totaling a whopping $3.5 billion.
The program includes projects that are of mutual interest to both parties and align with the Uzbekistan-2030 development strategy.
Uzbekistan hopped on the ADB bandwagon in 1995. The bank has provided loans, grants, and technical assistance amounting to $12.5 billion to Uzbekistan.
