Iran eyes designing car platform in collaboration with Europeans

Iran Khodro, an Iranian leading carmaker, says the company is expected to reach an agreement with an Italian-German joint venture on designing and producing vehicle platforms.

Hashem Yeke Zare, the head of Iran Khodro, has said that the agreement will be signed over the next 25 days, Tasnim news agency reported.

Under the agreement, the sides will cooperate on producing and designing gearbox and platform in Iran.

Iranian automotive industry is projected to form at least 4 percent of the country’s economic growth by 2025.

The country’s carmakers accounted for 2.2 percent of Iran’s economic growth over the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2016) with a contribution of about $9.1 billion (294 trillion rials).
