Tehran, Jakarta eye $1b trade volume in 2017

An Iranian official has forecasted that the country’s trade turnover with Jakarta would surpass $1.2 billion over the current year.

Iranian ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi has forecasted a surge of 25 percent in trade between Tehran and Jakarta in 2017, IRNA news agency reported.

Speaking at a meeting with Indonesian Coordinating Economic Minister Darmin Nasution, the Iranian minister said that the two countries are ready to remove all obstacles against improving ties.

Mahmoud Vaezi further called for facilitating banking ties between the two countries aimed at boosting trade.

Heading a high-ranking economic delegation Nasution arrived in Tehran Feb. 26 to follow up the negotiations on cooperation in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemical and electricity with Iranian officials.

The Indonesian delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Iranian officials in the fields of trade, banking, agriculture and industrial engineering as well.
