Egyptian officials travelled Wednesday to the United Arab Emirates, media reports said, to discuss the arrests there of 11 Egyptians reportedly suspected of forming a Muslim Brotherhood branch, dpa reported.
Dubai police chief Dahi Khalfan has previously accused the Muslim Brotherhood - a movement founded more than eight decades ago and now in power in Egypt - of plotting to overthrow the UAE's and other governments in the Gulf.
The 11 Egyptian doctors and engineers working in the UAE were arrested last month but have not been charged, media reports said.
Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's foreign affairs advisor, Essam al-Haddad, and intelligence chief Mohammed Refaat Shehata left separately for Abu Dhabi, Egypt's state-run al-Ahram newspaper reported.
