UN General Assembly chairman to visit Iran

UN General Assembly Chairman Miguel D'Escoto Brockman will arrive in Iran on a 5-day visit, the IRNA news agency reported. The visit will begin on March 5.

Brockman was elected chairman of the UN General Assembly in August 2008. He was Nicaraguan foreign minister under President Daniel Ortega's government in 1979-1990. Brockman will visit Tehran as part of a three-week trip to Syria, Iran, Finland, China, Bahrain, Switzerland and the UK.

Brockman's visit will focus on regional and world issues, UN General Assembly Press Secretary Enrique Yves said.
