The Interior Minister of Iran Sadig Mahsuli said that more than 1,000 people were registered through the Internet to participate in the 10th presidential elections in Iran as pretenders. There are not outstanding people amongst them, Iranian television reported. The Minister noted that as a result of training for the employees of the electoral agencies, it is possible to say that the elections will be held at an exemplary level.
Mahsuli said that women also have the right to participate as pretenders in the 10th presidential elections. However, their authorities will be determined by the Advisory Council of Iran.
Up to now, chairman of National Trust Party, former speaker Mehdi Karroubi from the reformist camp, former Prime Minister of Iran Mirhuseyn Moussaoui, and former corps commander of the Islamic Sepah Revolution (Revolutionary Guardians) Mohsen Rezaee nominated their candidacies for the presidential elections to be held on June 12.
The current Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has not yet confirmed his nomination for the elections.
