On May 25, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on Independence Day, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
"Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples have historically lived under friendly and goodly neighbor conditions and maintained close ties. These pleasant traditions are successfully maintained today and have played an important role in development of inter-state relations and developing cooperation into strategic partnership," the letter of congratulation said.
President Aliyev expressed his hope that friendship and cooperation between the two countries will further enhance.
