Azerbaijan has great opportunities to be represented in PACE with government and opposition representatives in one composition, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Committee on International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Samad Seyidov told journalists.
He noted that in January this year at the PACE winter session the Azerbaijani delegation included MPs who represent the Azerbaijani Parliament at the highest level.
"The head of state stands for the Azerbaijani delegation," Seyidov said.
The MP said that today Azerbaijan is a worthy and strong member of the Council of Europe.
"We demand the European parliamentarians to take Azerbaijan into consideration, but not to look down on us. We made a statement regarding the German MP's activity on Azerbaijan. We have stated that he, as a member of the Council of Europe, has repeatedly been to Azerbaijan, but his activity against our country is unacceptable," Seyidov said.
"We demand those who study the human rights situation in Azerbaijan not to turn a blind eye to what is happening in other countries. Criticize Azerbaijan and not seeing the violations in other countries is biased and wrong. Today, Azerbaijan is a secular state, and we protect our national traditions. Azerbaijan perhaps is the only country with a population so multiethnic," he added.
