In the future, Azerbaijan and Serbia can cooperate even more actively in the energy and transport sectors, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at an expanded meeting with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, held with participation of delegations in Baku on May 21.

“I warmly welcome you to Azerbaijan,” Ilham Aliyev told Aleksandar Vucic. “We attach great importance to your visit. I am sure the visit will be very successful and will greatly support the development of the Serbian-Azerbaijani relations. Our relations are developing very successfully. We are friends and strategic partners. The success achieved in recent years gives us grounds to say that the Serbia-Azerbaijan ties will continue to develop successfully.”

“We support each other in international organizations. We cooperate in the economy sphere; I am confident that thanks to the negotiations held today, a new momentum will be given to this sphere as well,” Ilham Aliyev noted. "There is excellent cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. Today, we exchanged views on the processes taking place in the region. I am sure such consultations are very important."

"In the future, we can cooperate more actively in the energy and transport spheres; we have ideas regarding these issues. In such a case, our relations will rise to a new level, a new stage. In a word, we have a common opinion related to the development of relations. I think these relations have great future.”

President Aliyev added that Serbia is a friendly country for Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that the friendly relations will continue.

“I wish you a successful visit,” Ilham Aliyev said. “I am sure the agreements reached during the visit will further strengthen our future successful cooperation. Welcome once again.”
