Meeting Agenda of CIS Country Interior Ministries Determined in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Agayeva / The Council of Interior Ministers of CIS countries will discuss the work of internal bodies and police of CIS countries in illegal migration to determine concrete steps to increase efficiency in interdepartmental interaction in this area.

The council agenda was considered during a meeting of expert groups on 28 and 31 August, the Executive secretariat of CIS reported. The International draft program on the joint struggle against crime for 2008 and 2010, the program on CIS countries cooperation in the struggle against illegal drugs for 2008 and 2010 and the program of cooperation of CIS countries on the struggle against terrorism and other forced types of extremism for 2008 and 2010 have been agreed.

Development of the programs is necessary for complex cooperation among CIS countries against present threats to global security.

The main tasks of the programs are expansion and strengthening of international legal basis of cooperation among CIS countries, upgrade and harmonization of national legislation, to hold agreed interdepartmental prophylactic, research and special operations, informative and scientific cooperation, as well as increasing qualifications.

The Interior ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, as well as representatives from the Council of Internal Ministries and Anti Terrorist Centre of CIS countries will take part in the meeting, the Azerbaijani Internal Ministry reported.
