Ecological State of Seawater in Azerbaijan’s Many Beaches Normal

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 July / Trend corr. E.Babayev/ Ecological state of seawater in the beaches of Shuvalan, Mardakan, Zagulba, Bilgah, Nardaran and Pirshagi settlements is normal. "Only two places in Shuvalan and Buzovna beaches are seriously, medium or slightly polluted, the cause of which is repair of a collector unit of the Baku Sewerage Administration. Polluted water is temporary thrown to the sea," Azerbaijan's Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov said on 18 July.

Beach season usually opens in Azerbaijan on 15 May. Recently, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has completed monitoring exercises in the Caspian Sea beaches.

According to Minister, the water in the beaches in Pirallahi, Shuvalan, Mardakan, Zagulba, Bilgah, Nardaran and Pirshagi settlements is not polluted. Bagirov stressed that a program intended to improve ecological situation in the Caspian Sea is being implemented. Treating and modular units are being set up in the sea within the program. "The work will be continued in Azerbaijan's southern region and nearby Sumgayit. New units will be set up over all sewerage drainages of the Baku Sewerage Administration and the Hovsan purifier will be included in the Administration," he said.
