A composition titled "Let's look at the champions and become champions" will be presented at the opening ceremony of the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku, Mariana Vasileva, head coach of the Azerbaijani national gymnastics team, told Trend Apr. 27.

“The idea of the composition is that any champion can inspire a girl or a boy to engage in any kind of sport and any gymnastics discipline,” Vasileva, who is also director of the ceremony, said. “We will show every moment from the very beginning of the gymnast’s career till the moment of becoming an Olympic champion.”

The head coach said the preparation of the opening ceremony is a result of the enormous work of choreographers, coaches and staff of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation.

She added that everything that the audience will see has been created within 10 days.

“I hope everyone will love the show and get the idea we wanted to convey,” Vasileva said.

The head coach added that the path to the championship is difficult for any athlete, with a lot of people involved in the process.

She said 178 gymnasts of different ages as well as choreographers will participate in the opening ceremony.

Baku will host another FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup on April 28-30. Gymnasts from different countries will gather at the National Gymnastics Arena to demonstrate their mastery this time as well. Participation of 94 gymnasts from 21 countries is expected in the event.
