Border Service of Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee has arrested four Azerbaijanis on the territorial waters of Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media which refer to the committee.

The incident took place on the night of Jan. 21-22, 2020.

“The Sarbaz border patrol ship was carrying out its service for the protection of Kazakhstan’s maritime borders on the Caspian Sea and identified a target on the radar. Border guards reached out via international channel, but the target did not respond and Sarbaz started approaching it,” the report said.

The target turned out to be a Baida boat (Caspian sea poaching sea boat), the crew of which would not respond on the demands to stop and tried to escape southwest. Thus, the patrol began to pursue the boat.

As a result of the pursue, Kazakhstan’s Border Service arrested four Azerbaijani citizens born 1971, 1975, 1978 и 1983. A pre-trial investigation under ‘Intentional illegal crossing of the state border of Kazakhstan’ codex article was initiated,” the report said.

The initial report did not specify which country the poaching sea boat arrived from.
