Azerbaijan increased exports to Italy by 37 percent, or $1.8 billion, to $4.8 billion from January through August 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC).
The share of Italy in total Azerbaijani exports increased from 31.8 percent over the same period of 2020 to 37.7 percent.
Azerbaijan also increased imports from Italy by 5.8 percent, or $17.1 million – from $276.8 million to $293.9 million. Italian share in the total Azerbaijani imports over the reporting period was 4 percent (4.1 percent over the same period of 2020).
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Italy in the specified period amounted to about $5.1 billion, which is 35.2 percent, or $1.8 billion higher than from January through July 2020.
Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover exceeded $20.2 billion, which is 18.3 percent, or $3.7 billion more than over the same period of 2020.
Total exports accounted for $12.9 billion, which is 30.9 percent, or $3 billion more than from January through August 2020. The share of exports in foreign trade turnover was 63.7 percent.
Azerbaijan's imports from January through August 2021 amounted to about $7.3 billion, an increase of 9.8 percent, or $659 million, compared to the same period of 2020. The share of imports in foreign trade turnover was 36.2 percent.
The balance of foreign trade turnover, remaining positive, increased by 42.8 percent, or $2.3 billion, year-on-year – to $5.5 billion.
