In January 2009, payments operated through the Azerbaijan Interbank Payment System (AZIPS) hit 5.003 billion manat, a 61-percnt rise from January 2008, the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) said on Feb. 5.
In January, transactions through the Azerbaijan's low-value settlements and clearing system (XONKS) hit 354 million manat, an 80.6-rise from January 2008.
Payments operated through AZIPS and XONKS hit 27,000 and 233,000 respectively in January, compared to 26,000 and 96,000 in January 2008.
The number of AZIPS users totaled 47 and XONKS users hit 50 in January 2009.
On Feb. 5, the official exchange rate is 0.808 manat to $1.
