Almaty Tax Department convenes

Kazakhstan, Almaty, Feb. 15/ Trend , R. Mashadihasanli/ The Tax Department of Almaty convened to report on the results of the year 2008. The meeting also announced the tasks set for 2009, Almaty City Administration press service official Aygul Eshmagambetova told Trend .

Eshmagambetova said the agencies transferred about 555 billion tenge to the public budget in 2008, a rise of 17.4 billion tenge (10 percent) from 2007. The plan was fulfilled by 96 percent.

Major of Almaty Ahmetjan Esimov said though plan on tax assignments to city's budget was fulfilled, there is trend of fall in tax-payers due to the financial crisis. The Almaty City Administration has designed anti-crisis measures to in a bid to stabilize situation. One of the most effective ways to implement anti-crisis measures is a new approach to the public purchases. About 120 billion tenge has been allotted for purchase of goods and services for 2009. The city agencies must spend the sum to create jobs and fill up the budget.

The Mayor said the indicators for the January 2009 point to a serious delay in schedule of budget assignments (by 25 percent). Therefore, the Mayor instructed tax agencies to take all measures to find additional reserves, to establish a strong monitoring on activities of businesses that operate at government's order and prevent tax evasion.

The Mayor awarded diploma to some tax agencies.

Chairman of the Finance Ministry's Tax Committee Argin Kipshakov, deputy Almaty Mayor Murat Kudishev and head of the Almaty Tax Department Nurilya Usenova attended the meeting.
