National Entrepreneurship Support Fund appeals to prosecutor general's office due to two closed banks' debts

The National Entrepreneurship Support Fund under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development appealed to the prosecutor general's office to return the two earlier liquidated banks' debt on earlier granted loans from the fund's money, executive director of the Fund Shirzad Abdullayev said.

"The debt was formed in BirlikBank and DebutBank. Their licenses were eliminated by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan," Abdullayev said.

The decision to revoke the license of BirlikBank was made on January 28, 2011, but DebutBank - December 1, 2010.

He said that the debts of these banks, which previously acted as the authorized banks of the fund, were accumulated as of early 2008
Regarding the situation with returning of loans by other authorized credit institutions of the fund, Abdullayev said that credit resources are paid off on a regular basis, in accordance with a specific timetable.

At present, the National Fund returned 10 million manat from the projects previously funded under preferential terms, Abdullayev said.

The official exchange rate is 0.795 manat to $1.
