Turkmenistan will hold business negotiations with potential foreign partners during the 'Progress and Prospects of Textile Industry' exhibition which opens on Saturday, an official Turkmen source said.
The exhibition is intended to promote the modernisation of the domestic textile industry and its integration into the global industry. According to specialists, these presentations represent a convenient platform for business contacts, manufacturers, suppliers, marketers and consumers which gives participants an opportunity to address issues of sales and define a circle of customers and partners.
"This exhibition provides the Turkmen textile workers with another opportunity to promote its products to international markets," organisers said.
In order to constantly respond to the changing conjuncture of the textile products market, the timely response to changes and innovations and to hold trading positions, such forums are organised. The results can influence the further development of this export-oriented industry of our country, the organisers said.
Turkmenistan set priorities for the maximum use of enormous resource potential and capacities of the sector to produce competitive products. Turkmenistan produces ecological, natural fabric.
The country's textile industry develops based on the growth of the domestic processing of raw cotton. Turkmenistan procured more than 1.50 million tons of raw cotton in 2011 and there are similar plans for this year.
Traditionally the country exports the products to China, Russia, Great Britain, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
According to the development programme adopted until 2020, Turkmenistan plans to invest about $2 billion in the textile industry. Each cotton planting region has its own refining capacity and these measures will help to keep open approximately 20,000 new jobs.
Specialised service centres from such companies as Schlafhorst, Truetzschler, Uster and others are being opened in Ashgabat to provide the textile industry with spare parts.
