Privatization of roads and bridges cancelled in Turkey

Privatization of roads and bridges has been cancelled in Turkey, a report of the Turkish Privatization Supreme Council said on Saturday.

The report said privatization of highways such as Edirne-Istanbul-Ankara, Pozanti-Tarsus-Mersin, Tarsus-Adana-Gazyantep, Toprpkkale-Iskenderun, Gazyantep-Sanliurfa, Izmir-Aydin as well as Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge was expected previously.

The reason for cancellation of privatization has not been disclosed.

Earlier it was reported that a joint venture Koç-UEM-Berhad-Gözde became the winner of the tender for privatization of some roads and bridges in Turkey.

The tender for privatization was held on December 17 last year. Koç-UEM-Berhad-Gözde JV won the tender by offering the largest amount of $ 5.7 billion.
