Baku sea port increases cargo transportation

In January-April 2013, Baku International Sea port transshipped 2.17 million tons of various types of cargo compared to 2.12 million tons in the same period of 2012, a source at the port told Trend today.

The port transported 6.37 million tons of different goods in 2012 compared to 6.7 million tons in 2011.

According to the source, some 1,420 tons of goods of the total volume of cargo transshipped in January-April fell to ferry traffic compared to 1,260 in January-April 2012.

Of the total amount of cargo transshipped in 2012, 3.79 million tons fell under ferry traffic, which was similar to 2011.

In January-April, the dry cargo terminal of the port transshipped 311,000 tons of cargo compared to 385,000 tons in January-April 2012.

In 2012, the dry cargo terminal of the port handled 1.17 million tons of cargo, which is 4 percent more than in 2011.

The source said that in January-April, the port handled 2,260 containers compared to 2,020 units in the same period of last year.

In total, the port transshipped 8,490 containers last year compared to 9,230 units in 2011.
