Russia’s KAMAZ expanding co-op with Turkmenistan

Forty-two dump trucks by KAMAZ FTC Corp., a truck manufacturer based in Tatarstan (Russia), arrived in the Turkmenbashi International Seaport in Turkmenistan, the Altyn Asyr TV channel reported.

This is the first cargo of 250 vehicles ordered in Tatarstan by the Ministry of Road Transport of Turkmenistan. Thirty dump trucks will be sent to Turkmenistan’s Mary region, another 12 dump trucks - to Akhal region.

The next cargoes are expected to arrive later in 2018. The website of the Russian manufacturer reported that the agreement on supplies was signed in September 2017 during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkmenistan. The contract envisages supplies of KAMAZ-6520 vehicles with load capacity of 20 tons.

“Turkmenistan is one of the biggest and stable markets for the sale of products of the leader of the Russian cargo machinery industry,” said the report. “Over the past ten years, Turkmenistan has received more than 9,000 trucks and special machinery of KAMAZ, and the company continues to promote the development of the country’s fleet of vehicles.”

KAMAZ has its dealer network in Turkmenistan, which is represented in the cities of Ashgabat, Balkanabat, Mary and Turkmenabat.
