Beeline Uzbekistan losing subscribers, increasing revenue

In the 2Q2018, the revenue of the mobile operator Beeline in Uzbekistan amounted to 635 billion soums, which is 10.3 percent more compared to the 2Q2017, the international telecommunications company VEON (the parent company of Beeline) stated.

In general, in the 1H2018, the mobile operator's revenue amounted to 1.25 billion soums (an increase of 14.9 percent).

The revenue in the mobile segment exceeded 629 billion soums, which is 10 percent more than in the same period in 2017. In general, in the 1H2018, this figure grew by 14.7 percent to 1.24 billion soums.

The revenue from data transmission services in the 2Q2018 exceeded 213 billion soums (+53.1 percent), and in the 1H2018 it was 400 billion soums (+46.1 percent).

The subscriber base of Beeline in Uzbekistan for the 2Q2018 was 9.3 million people, which is 3.1 percent less compared to the same period in 2017. At the same time, data transfer services are used by 5 million people, which is 10.3 percent higher compared to the 2Q2017.

The average revenue per user (ARPU indicator) for the month was 22,018 soums in the 2Q2018, which is 10.9 percent more compared to the same period in 2017.

The MOU (Minutes of Use per subscriber per month) was 568 minutes in the 2Q2018 (-1.8 percent).

The use of data transfer per user increased by 158.9 percent to 1,014 megabytes in the 2Q2018.

The Unitel LLC was founded in 1996. The commercial activity of the company began on Sept. 25, 1997. Since Sept. 12, 2006, Unitel has been providing services under the Beeline trademark.

Beeline is currently the largest telecommunication operator in Uzbekistan. The subscriber base of the company almost reached 10 million by the end of 2017.

Ten years ago, on Dec. 2, 2008, Unitel became the first in Uzbekistan to announce commercial launch of the 3G network. On Sept. 4, 2014, Unitel became the first operator in Uzbekistan to launch a 4G network on LTE technology. Within the next three years, the company expanded the 4G network to over 20 cities of Uzbekistan.
