Turkish brand Geçör will build a textile factory in Georgia, Trend reports with reference to commercant.ge.
The head of International Association of Investors of Georgia Osman Chalishkan said that the clothing factory owned by this company will be built in the city of Kutaisi. According to him, the company is interested in carrying out production in Georgia after signing a free trade agreement between Georgia and China in January 2018.
“After the plant is built, materials and fabrics will be imported from China, and finished products with the tag “Made in Georgia” will be exported to the EU. Thanks to the free trade agreement with China, production in Georgia is much cheaper than in Turkey,” said Chalishkan.
At present, a preparatory process is underway to select the territory where the textile factory will be located. It is envisaged that all procedures will be completed till July 14, and the construction of the plant will begin.
Investments in the enterprise will amount to $1 million, and about 100 people will be employed at the plant.
