In January-June 2019, the volume of agricultural production in Azerbaijan at actual prices amounted to about 3.675 billion manats, which is 13 percent more than the same period last year, as can be inferred from the report of the State Statistical Committee, Trend reports.
According to the report, production in the livestock sector increased by 2.9 percent (1.9 billion manats) during this period, and by 25.6 percent (1.733 billion manats) in the field of crop production.
Moreover, 252,500 tons of meat, 1,037,200 tons of milk, 926.9 million eggs and 14,600 tons of wool were produced in the country during the aforementioned period. Compared to the same figures in 2018, meat production increased by 3 percent, milk by 2 percent, eggs by 4.5 percent, and wool by 0.8 percent.
Furthermore, 335,700 tons of potatoes were grown in the field of plant production (an increase of 10.3 percent), along with 675,100 tons of other vegetables, which is 13.8 percent more compared to the same period last year. Also, 2,541,700 tons of cereals and leguminous crops were grown, which is 40.7 percent more compared to the same period last year.
Cultivation is carried out on the fields, orchards and vineyards, and preparatory activities on the planting of summer crops are also being carried out.
