Azerbaijan, Turkey intend to form legal framework for digital trade co-op

Azerbaijan and Turkey intend to form a legal framework for cooperation in digital trade, Trend reports on Aug.25 citing ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Digital Trade between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey’.

According to the document, the two countries agreed to work and interact based on the principles of equality, transparency and mutual respect.

The second paragraph of the memorandum stated that the parties will conduct joint researches and prepare reports, including the reports on assessing the situation in the digital trade market. Moreover, scientific seminars, meetings and trainings on this topic will be organized.

Besides, according to the memorandum, pilot projects on innovative solutions in certain segments of bilateral trade will be prepared and implemented by Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The memorandum also envisages the exchange of experience and knowledge between the two countries through videoconferences and emailing, as well as the creation of a dialogue between the public and private sectors.

As earlier reported, the memorandum has been approved by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The document was signed on April 2, 2021 in Baku.
