Kazakhstan reports jump in non-cash payments country-wide

A total of 4.9 million transfers worth 63 trillion tenge ($148.2 billion) were made via services of Kazakhstan National Bank's payment systems in July 2021, Trend reports with reference to the bank.

This is 4.3 percent more in volume and 7.6 percent less in value compared to June 2021. On average, 245,700 transactions worth 3.2 trillion tenge ($7.5 billion) were carried out daily.

The volume of plastic cards issued in Kazakhstan amounted to 55.3 million cards as of August 1, 2021, and 47.2 percent of them were used in July 2021.

The volume of transactions via plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 625.9 million transactions worth 8.2 trillion tenge ($19.2 billion) in July 2021, which means an increase of 17.4 percent in volume and decreased by 2.1 percent in value compared to June 2021.

Furthermore, the total volume of funds sent via international systems of money transfers amounted to 0.3 million transfers worth 97.2 billion ($228.7 million) in July 2021, which is 10.9 percent less in value compared to June 2021.

Out of the total volume of transfers, 80.9 percent of total volume or 94.7 percent of total value (92.1 billion tenge or $216.7 million) accounted for transfers from Kazakhstan to other countries.

Some 19.1 percent of total volume (0.1 million) and 5.3 percent of total value (5.1 billion tenge or $12 million) accounted for transfers in Kazakhstan.

The remaining 0.1 million transfers worth 23.9 billion tenge ($56.2 million) accounted for transfers from other countries to Kazakhstan.
