Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aghayeva / The goods turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus made up $41.5mln in the first half of 2007, which is more than the full year of 2006. In 2006 the total turnover comprised $35mln, but in the first half of this year the figure dramatically increased, the Advisor of Belarus Embassy in Azerbaijan, Kirill Kamyshev, reported on 10 August.
The countries are mainly trading in high technology, primarily machine-building, electro technology, instrument-making, woodworking, pharmaceutics, and foods. Belarus imports vegetable and fruit juices, tobacco for Belarusian fabrics, cotton, fabrics, electro technology and other industries.
The business forum and national exhibition of goods from Belarus which was held during the official visits of the presidents of the two countries has had a great influence upon the rise in turnover. The events will be held again in 2009, stated Kamyshev.
