Cargo Transport Increase by 19.5% in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend / State Statistic Committee has reported that some 93.3mln tons of cargo was transported within January-July 2007, which is by 19.5% more as compared the same period in 2006. Some 66.7% from total transported cargo made up private sector. Some 47.6% was transported by automobile transport, 28.6% -by pipelines, including 17.4% via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, 17.6% - by railway and 6.2% - by sea transport.

Some 642,4mln people were transported by passenger transports within July2007, which is by 7.6% as compared the same period in 2006. Private sector made up 83.4%, automobile transport made up 83.5% and metro 15.8%.

Some 16.4mnl tons of different cargos were transported by railway transport, which is by 7.6% more as compared to 2006. Some 5.8mln tons of different cargos by sea transport. The figure by 29.5% low as compared to 2006. Transport of oil and oil products made up 61.8% and 38.2% -dry cargo.

The volume of cargo processed in the Azerbaijani ports within January-July made up 3mln tons, which is by 18.5% more as compared to the same period in 2006.

Some 44.4mln tons of cargo were transported by automobile transport, which is by 9.1% more as compared to 2006. The number of passenger transport made up 536,4mln of people; some 96.6% passengers were transported by bus and 3.4% by cars. The number of passenger transport by metro made up 101,2mln of people.

Income from metro made up AZN 4.9mln, which is by 16.7% more as compared to 2006. Air transport increased by 21.9% and made up 859,003 of people.

Some 23.1mln tons of cargo were transported by Eurasian transport corridor via the territory of Azerbaijan within January-June, which is by 4.1% lower as compared to 2006.

Some 22.9mln tons of oil was transported by main oil pipelines, some 70.7% transported via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan.

Some 16.2mln tons of oil was transported from Ceyhan within seven months of 2007. The total volume oil transported by main oil pipeline increased by 3.3 times as compared to 2006. Some 5,1bln cu m of gas was transported by main gas pipeline within seven months 2007. The figure is by 14.8% lower as compared to 2006.
