Opening OMV Office in  Azerbaijan Will Assist in Transporting Azerbaijani Gas to  Europe: Head of Nabucco Project

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend U.Ismaylova / Opening permanent representation of the Austrian Oil and Gas company OMV in Azerbaijan will assist in transporting Azerbaijani gas to Europe, said the Executive Director of the Nabucco Gas Pipeline Company, Reinhardt Mitshek, on 20 September in Baku.

OMV is the operator of Nabucco with a 20% share.

With a length of 4,000km, the Nabucco gas pipeline will ensure gas delivery via the Mediterranean and Caspian Sea to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tbilisi, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Austria. Operation of the gas pipeline will commence in 2011. The project is estimated at €5bln. Nabucco is developed by the companies of OMV, MOL ( Hungary), Botas ( Turkey), Bulgargaz ( Bulgaria) and Transgaz ( Romania).

"We testified to the support of the Azerbaijani Government in transportation gas from the countries of Central Asia via the Nabucco pipeline," Mitshek said.
