Several filling stations under SOCAR brand to be opened nearest days in Georgia

By Feb. 10 SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) plans to put into operation several new filling stations in Georgian territory, Head of SOCAR Energy Georgia (SOCAR's subsidiary) Mahir Mammadov said on Feb. 5.

"Exact date of putting into operation has not been determined. But it is planned to be by Feb. 10," Mammadov said.

New filling stations will be put into operation in Kutaisi, Zestafoni, Batumi and Tbilisi, other source in the company said earlier.

Filling stations are planned to be opened in Borjomi, Hashuri, Batumi (two more stations). Several filling stations are planned to be opened in Tbilisi, he said. Total number of filling stations under SOCAR brand will reach 35-40 units in Georgia by late 2009.

Presently, the number of Azerbaijani filling stations in Georgia totals roughly 20 units. The number of filling stations will make up about 60 units during several years.

SOCAR Energy Georgia deals with distribution and marketing on Georgian oil and mineral oil market.

In particular, the company sells mineral oil and gas on Georgian market.

SOCAR Georgia co-founders include SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chartishvili - 16.3 percent.
