Kazakhstan National Company KazMunayGas completed transportation of a Satti jack-up drilling rig to Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to KazMunayGas press office.

On June 19, 2019, the official ceremony on rig’s arrival was held in Baku. Rovnag Abdullayev, the president of Azerbaijan State Oil company SOCAR, and Alik Aidarbayev, the Chairman of the Management Board of “KazMunayGas” attended the ceremony.

According to Alik Aidarbayev, projects of this kind symbolize the friendship and constructive cooperation between companies.

“We plan to further develop joint activities with our partners and to support joint projects. This leads not only to the expansion of opportunities for both companies, but also to the increase of the competence and competitiveness of Kazakh oil and gas sector,” added Aidarbayev.

Satti jack-up drilling rig is the first rig fully constructed in Kazakhstan. American technologies were used during the construction, which took three years. The rig is to be used for drilling works in the Caspian Sea at a depth water of up to 80 meters.

A group of Azerbaijani and Kazakh specialists was formed for conducting the drilling works and providing technical support.

As Trend reported earlier, both parties agreed on the rig transfer in February 2019 and the process of transportation itself was launched on June 14th.
