ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, November 26. Specialists of the Turkmenistan's Turkmennebit State Concern extracted more than 895,000 tons of oil from the Goturdepe field from January through October this year, Trend reports.
This volume of oil produced by the state concern department is 6,500 tons more than in the same period last year.
Goturdepe, a field rich in oil and gas resources, located near Turkmenistan's city of Balkanabad, is considered one of the "oldest" in Turkmenistan; the first drilling rig appeared here in 1948.
Industrial development of local deposits began in the 1960s, and 13 years ago the Northern Goturdepe field was discovered, whose reserves are estimated at 20 million tons of oil.
Turkmenistan possesses considerable oil reserves distributed across its regions. The extraction of oil holds substantial economic importance for Turkmenistan, serving as a pivotal sector in the nation's industry and contributing significantly to its exports.
