The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) informed Trend that the drilling rig Khazar-4 is continuing with the drilling of the third well at a depth of 800 meters in the West Absheron field. Drilling has already reached a depth of 640 meters. The rig is expected to drill 12 pre-drilling wells. Once drilling is completed, they will be conserved for further production from the platform.
The drilling of exploration wells with Absheron rigs is underway. At present the depth of the well, with a project depth of 850 meters, is 680 meters. The drilling of both wells will be completed at the beginning of December, dependant on weather conditions.
At the meeting of the Absheronneft Oil and Gas Production Unit, Azneft made a resolution on West Absheron field development program. The program also includes the improvement and construction of new platforms.
The first platform was established for connecting three drilled gas wells. They were drilled and conserved. The approximate withdrawal from the well is 250,000 cu.m a day. This will enable a new method of production, gas lifting, as well as gas for domestic demand. This is the primary task.
It is planned to construct platforms for exploitation of wells with this semi-submersible drilling rig Khazar-4. The rig will drill 12 wells instead of 6, as it was planned earlier, due to the great reserves and capacity of the stratums. The average daily withdrawal is approximately 10 tons a day.
It is also planned to continue exploration drilling in this field with Absheron drilling rig. At present the business plan includes the drilling of two wells.
Earlier, Khazar-4 rig drilled 6 wells on one of the points in the field.
The appraisal of fields revealed over 10mln tons of oil. The re-appraisal of reserves was carried out after the drilling.
