Russia accounts for half of money transfers to Kazakhstan

The volume of remittances received by individuals in Kazakhstan from abroad through the money transfer systems amounted to 255.5 billion tenge in January-September this year, Ranking.kz reported.

This is 15.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

The number of transactions for the first 9 months of this year reached 1.1 million, which is 7.3 percent more year-on-year.

Russia with 129.9 billion tenge is the leader among the countries from which the remittances to Kazakhstan were made. This is 0.8 percent more than in January-September 2017. The country's share decreased from 58.2 to 50.8 percent out of the total funds received by Kazakh individuals from abroad in the reporting period.

South Korea ranks second - 39.1 billion tenge were received from the country, which is an increase of 2.3 times. The country's share increased from 7.8 to 15.3 percent.

Kyrgyzstan is third - 21.2 billion tenge, growth by 59.6 percent year-on-year. Its share rose from 6 to 8.3 percent.

As for the money transfer systems used for making remittances to Kazakhstan, the largest volume of transactions occurred in KoronaPay — 134.6 billion tenge, which is 18 percent more year-on-year. The share of the system increased from 51.5 to 52.7 percent of the total funds received in January-September 2018.

Western Union is second - 56.1 billion tenge, a 24.8 percent growth. The share rose from 20.3 to 22 percent.

MoneyGram ranks third - 21.1 billion tenge, which is 2.3 times more than a year before. The share of the system increased from 4.1 to 8.3 percent.
